Stayed at the establishment many times, this time I was very disappointed. It was hot in the rooms without the use of air conditioners during load-shedding, which this time started at 20h00 and went on until 03h00 the next morning. Need to invest in floor standing fans if air conditioners cannot be used due to load shedding. Mosquitoes carry you away during the night. After not being able to sleep properly, I eventually packed up and left, only to find myself parked in. The units are now in need of a makeover. Will not stay there again.

The host was helpful and friendly, which made up for the few glitches with the WiFi that was off for the area and the blind that was not working. Nothing that we could not live with. The host is in the process of replacing the blinds with curtains, a better option. We will stay there again.

We enjoyed the view and amenities. The tiles on the veranda and steps were dangerously slippery after the rain.
It was ok. We had a storm on the first evening and the roof was leaking over the bath and by the window. The leak was made worse as it was dripping through a light fitting. The shower light did not work, and the light by the kitchen sink was also faulty.
We had a great time visiting and barbecuing with the most beautiful view. We were well welcomed and the lady on duty was friendly and helpful.

If you value a breathtaking view over the dam, unspoilt by the roofs and back-yard clutter of other properties, you basically have a choice between the De Stijl Hotel and A'Damsview. We chose the latter and enjoyed it so much that we will probably not be staying anywhere else for some years.

Our unit was very well and tastefully furnished, and the view over the dam is incredible. I was however disappointed with the way the situation was handled when I called the manager that evening to let him know that there was no hot water. She was extremely unhelpful and unsympathetic, and I felt that I was bothering her with my phone call. Otherwise, the stay was very nice and I can recommend it in terms of appearance and location.

A'Damsview is definitely a place to stay. First time at Gariepdam and the view was incredible. We had to move our date and the management was incredibly helpful. Also gave us feedback about the weather and made us feel very much at home. The quality from bed to linen is of good quality.

We were received very kindly and drank delicious coffee, while looking out over the dam. The sunrise was beautiful.
On arrival we were welcomed very kindly, the lady at reception helped us and explained where we could eat and what there was to do in town. The room was perfectly clean and the bed slept incredibly well. Will definitely be at the top of my list of places to stay.
The standby power during power outages is a big improvement.

Halfway on the way to Swellendam for a family visit.
Nobody but a gardener was on site when we arrived before 16h00. After a 15-minute wait, a very friendly lady arrived and showed us to our suite. We unpacked and then relaxed, enjoying the view. We left for town just before 18h00 for an early supper at a restaurant. On arrival back at the venue, we decided to shower and then found that one of the rolled-up white towels on the bed had a big brown stain on it. On preparing the bed for sleeping, we found a stain on the duvet cover under a blanket folded across the bed and one of the pillow slips had black marks on it. The toilet roll had about a third of its paper left, but no backup new roll was anywhere to be found in the suite. Fortunately, we always travel with a new roll in our vehicle. A'Damsview adjoins the access road to the suburb but has no perimeter fencing or gates and is completely open, with nobody on site outside of office hours. There was no visible security, alarm or panic button. A fantastic view, but accommodation is let down by a lack of attention to detail, and an uneasy sleep knowing that there is no security and an alarm going off elsewhere in the suburb.

The water was cold when we wanted to shower that night and they never came to fix the hot blanket that didn't work for us. We were also not informed about the load shedding schedule for the 2 days we were there. The bathroom light doesn't work either.

Very nice and tidy place. Just two problems. The braai is not sheltered or covered. If it rains like when I was there, there is no way to cook food because there are no pots or pans that work with the induction stove.

The manager on duty was super friendly. There was even an honest snack and drink menu arranged for 2 weary travellers. We will definitely use them again.
I would only recommend that there be at least cutlery and plates for two. Self care is a problem without it.

We had a unit facing the dam. What a sight to wake up in the morning and watch the sunrise from my bed!
On arrival, the lady took us to the room and told us there are cool drinks, juice, and chocolate in the fridge and crisps only to later realise they are chargeable. I have no problem paying my way but the way it was said it sounded like it was inclusive. The bathroom, mainly the shower, was not the cleanest, shower door didn't close properly.

In our experience, the link on the website is very misleading. It should be shown better when you book what rooms have a stoep with a dam view. For a self-catering unit, there is not much to work with, no braai tongs or wine glasses.

For a self-catering unit, one expects at least a plate, knife and fork to be provided. First self-catering unit I come to where it isn't, disappointing.
Fridge too small if you are traveling down to the Cape to stay in a self-catering accommodation for your perishable stock. An emergency light or even just a candle will be useful during load shedding.
For long periods of time, the lack of vehicle shelter can be daunting. But above all it was a lovely visit! I would also like to see a slightly larger fridge and key fob. Will definitely come back if I get the chance!
A beautiful unit with an even more beautiful view of the Gariepdam which overflowed. Everything was neat, clean and it was very quiet at night. The unit is well equipped and we enjoyed the sparkling swimming pool and the Weber on the balcony. Marlou who runs the complex is very friendly, ready to help, and an asset to A'Damsview!

Not too far from N1, very peaceful and quiet. Is extremely neat and well equipped (we were there in 40'C and 17'C!). Allow for pets. Can go for a walk/jog. Nice braai places and a lovely small swimming pool. Shop and restaurant are nearby. But the highlight is the sunset and sunrise over the Gariepdam - indescribable.

Enjoyed the braai, the pool, and being able to take doggy and MTB.
The location is very nice but we overslept twice in a matter of 2 weeks. On the first sleepover, our aircon leaked badly, the blinds were broken in the main sleeping area giving no privacy and the hot tub was not working. When we came back 2 weeks later it still hadn't been fixed.

I felt very safe. I did not realize I shared an entrance hall with the adjoining unit and therefore did not lock my unit's door. When I returned from an outing, the outside door was unlocked. So the neighbors had free access to my unit, but there was nothing wrong with my unit. However, the honesty bar's prices are excessive.

The room was clean and well equipped for an overnight stay. The linen and towels were crisp. Unfortunately, there is a big problem with moisture in all the walls of the room we stayed in. This causes the paint to lift in places and the filling to fall out between tiles. One can see that the owners are trying to control the problem, but serious intervention is going to be needed to fix it.
Everything was very clean and we felt very welcome. Was a bit scary because the vehicle was not behind a safety gate.

The unit is very neatly and luxuriously furnished. It provides all the facilities as an overnight accommodation between Cape Town and Gauteng. The reception staff are also friendly and helpful. The location of A'Damsview is ideal for beautiful sunrise photos over the dam. Make sure you are already there at check-in time to be able to do some activities at the dam, including beautiful sunset photos from the dam wall. We will definitely stay there again in the future as it is also close to the N1.

The guests also stopped right in front of the door which hindered loading from exit. If only it could be indicated nicely.
We had a great time. I would only improve the following for guests staying longer than one night. Provide scissors, sharp knife and non-stick pans.

The room is very well equipped, especially against the cold, there is enough space with everything you need without any frills. We had the standard room, without a view and not suitable for self-catering, but didn't need it. The deluxe room does have it.

The standard room is small and very well equipped for an overnight stop with blankets and towels for showering and swimming. The lady who received us after their normal hours called a nearby eatery when we asked where the nearest one was, just to hear if they were still open for us. It was lovely to receive such friendly service.
The standard units must be shifted also to enjoy the view of the dam not only the lux units. That's my opinion, cause the expectation is to see view the dam when relaxing inside the unit.

I was completely disappointed by a noisy and drunk guest for the better part of the night. At 03:00 the man was still screaming so loud that my sleep was disturbed. I wondered if there was no security staff member on duty to attend to that inconvenience to your guests.

The unit we stayed in really has an unbeatable view of the pond. Braai facilities make it an ideal place to visit. The air conditioning was very welcome. The room unfortunately needs some attention. The broken tiles next to the bed, and the couch leg that was off. It's little things, and can be fixed easily enough.

A'Damsview is in a beautiful location, the rooms are clean and the beds very comfortable. There were strange noises while we slept that interrupted our sleep. I'm not sure if it was the air conditioning or the roof. Regardless, it was still a pleasant experience.

Just the right distance from Pretoria to arrive and cycle in daylight. The dam offers breathtaking sunset and full moon rising as well as sunrise very special. Steijl hotel's veranda and cocktails as well as food are to be recommended. OK mini market and liquor store has necessary for self-help and braai and swimming facilities just what is needed to shake off city.
The view is fantastic and exactly as it appears on the web. The accommodation is excellent and check-in was totally painless.. It's only the bathroom and toilet of the loft unit that was a bit strange for us - without doors there really isn't enough privacy. I would suggest putting a door between the toilet and the master bedroom. But that would in no way stop me from going again, or from recommending the place.

There were a few things that didn't work, but otherwise the place is beautiful. (The bath's tap and plug did not work and also some of the cupboards and drawers' knobs were completely loose. You only expect when you pay a lot that everything must be in working order).
I stayed in the deluxe unit and it was truly luxurious. During the night the mosquitoes and gnats came in from somewhere and there was no bug spray or mosquito repellent in the room. No gate at the entrance and for solo and female travelers this may be off-putting.

The room is great. It is clean and service is great. Had some problems with guests who lived next to us, who feel nothing and nothing for the rest of the residents. But yes, not everyone can be civilized. I can find nothing wrong with the service and residence of A'Damsview. Will stay there again.
Lights at braai do not work. My third time there and still not working. Grill also dirty. Get stainless steel, it's easy to keep clean.

Sonika was very gracious and did not once complain about the fact that we were checking in so late. I would not rate the parking as secure. The property is not fenced or gated and they do not have security guards. So, we were nervous parking our cars outside with some of our stuff still in the car.

The only issue was the rain leaks due to the truly apocalyptic storm we experienced the night we were there. Other than that unexpected massive weather event, we were well received by the friendly and attentive staff who went out of her way to make contact with us and accommodate our late arrival.
We were kindly received. We requested to be able to check in earlier and they immediately let us know when our room was ready.
It's the finer details like some bath salts and toothpicks that are put out for you that make a big difference when you stay overnight. Very cute place, we will definitely spend the night there again.
The house in the village is very spacious and extremely well equipped with air conditioning in the master bedroom and washing machine in the kitchen. It is not located at the new A'Damsview dam view units. There is a carport for your car in the street, would prefer to be able to park behind a locking gate. All and all a very reasonable price for a place to rest after the long journey between Cape Town and Johannesburg for a day or so.
The luxury unit where we stayed is fantastic with sleeping, braai, dining and shower facilities, as well as a hot tub.
The chalets have a beautiful view of the dam and it's very relaxing to sit outside and watch the sunrises and sunsets! The place is very luxurious inside and everything you need is there. The bed sleeps incredibly well, the spa bath was a relief after our long drive! Will definitely visit this place again on the way to Cape Town and I highly recommend it!

Well the next morning at 6 o'clock the toilet suddenly started working. But we left at 7 o'clock. A'Damsview will have to take precautions. Thank you very much.

The luxury unit has a fantastic view of the Gariepdam and is fully equipped for self-catering. I was pleasantly surprised with the units as well as their affordability. A'Damsview is a very comfortable and tidy place to sleep. We had a lovely stay and it was easy enough to walk over to the hotel for dinner if you don't feel like cooking yourself. The service was excellent, we will definitely stay here again.

Two recommendations: The stairs down to the kitchen/dining room deserve a handrail. A handle in the shower would be welcome (from the point of view of the elderly). The rest of the accommodation excellent.

A'Damsview has an incredibly beautiful view of the Gariep Dam. The luxury unit we stayed in is beautiful and very well equipped, and overlooks the dam. Dogs are welcome, but they must be on a leash outside the room. I would definitely recommend this place!

We loved staying at A'Damsview especially as our 4 legged "kids" could enjoy the view and the freedom with us. The unit was very clean and had everything we needed for self-catering. As we arrived late-ish, in the dark, it would have been nice if they could have supplied us with a bag of wood and some fire lighters as it was bitterly cold. Other than that, we loved staying at A'Damsview!
We stayed in the loft, everything was beautiful and very clean. Unforgettable view, it was very cold, but with the aircon and warm blankets we slept very well. It's a shame we could only stay one night.

Comfortable accommodation with all the basic amenities. Very nice view of the dam, friendly service. Recommend this above anywhere in Colesberg and is not too far out of the way.
Not clear distinction between amenities of luxury unit and the standard unit. Was under the impression that there will at least be a microwave in a self-catering unit. Go way to heat food and in our case to sterilize baby's bottle. My suggestion would be to give the customers who book in the future a better indication on the website of which facilities are available between the options.

We stayed in the unit, Apie. Was not aware it is actually part of a bigger unit, thus we had a shared front door. Perhaps you can consider having stock of non-perishable items at the office. The unit and the bathroom was tidy, Works as a room for kids. The absence of chairs are a problem for adults, would have only fitted with a double bed.
The view from the luxury units over the dam is beautiful. Be careful of snakes, especially if you have a pet traveling with you. I almost stepped on a small adder on the porch in front of the unit. Probably the warm baked fleece on the porch is a nice place for the vermin to spend the night. Covered parking or at least shade only for vehicles would be appreciated.
Not just an overnight destination between the Cape and Gauteng, but a holiday destination. Well equipped with all possible amenities and accessories. Then there is the view to top it all off.
We won't just drive by here again, we were warmly welcomed and immediately felt at home in the well-equipped unit. A'Damsview is a welcome break for anyone taking the long road!
I was rather disappointed in the fact that I had paid for two luxury units and only one of them had a spa bath. I thought both the units I had booked would have had them.
Accommodation is great for overnight stays. There is also so much to do that one should spend more time there.
Mattresses very nice. Bathroom facilities sufficient. Kitchen facility inadequate. Talking, crying of babies and barking of dogs from the people next door are clearly audible. People in the house opposite leave at 4am and the voices are clearly audible and outside lights shine into the room.

A'Damsview is ideally located between the north and south of the country. It's close to the N1 and conveniently located so as not to waste too much travel time. The units are very clean, tidy and well maintained. Parking is close by so there is no long haul of luggage. The surroundings are breathtaking and the Gariep dam embankment and lookout literally just minutes away. The perfect stopover for the slightly more discerning traveller. Highly recommend.

We had a great time at A'Damsview and the village itself is very peaceful and the people friendly. We were just a little dissatisfied because there was no parking and no shelter for the vehicle, it had to stand in the sun. The kitchen and the appliances in the kitchen, such as a fridge, are also hopelessly too small and there is not much space in the kitchen. The view was nice but very far from the dam (not at all as represented in the photos). The photos are a bit misleading.

D'Amsview is a cute place that overlooks the Gariepdam, with the fireplace it will make every moment unforgettable. It was really nice for us to rest there after our long drive.
Great stopover location if you are travelling through the Eatsern Cape. Lots of local history and a local OK mini market provides all the basic essentials you will need for a self-cater option.
Advertisement on website misleading. When booking, I asked for a unit with two rooms, with double beds in it. Upon arrival we were taken to two rooms. It's beautiful but we would have been neglected, every couple in a room. We were then offered the opportunity, for an additional R200.00, to move to a unit with access to the outside where we could barbecue. The unit was beautiful and we had a great time. The photos on the website are misleading. Don't get the impression of the small individual rooms
